Magnet Overview and Highlights
“Celebrating Learning Through the Arts and Technology”
Children come in unique packages, with different talents, interests and ways that they learn best. At Nixon Academy, the teachers and staff are committed to recognizing and to developing the potential in every child. Through the arts, the academic curriculum at Nixon Academy is enriched with opportunities for students to develop to their full potential and achieve success in school. Visual and performing arts has been an essential part of the school’s curriculum for over twenty years. Individual creativity is encouraged, historical relevance is examined, and cultural viewpoints are explored and celebrated. Students are engaged in various forms of artistic expression: band, vocal music, dance, drama, and public speaking.
